Tyneside Football Club
Facts and History
TFC of the SF was founded in the fall of 2003 after an exodus of players from South City Football Club brought on over a dispute over management styles (The Great Danes were upset).
The 9 original members who left So. City includes:
Arya Askari,
Carlos Berry,
Geoffrey Espander,
Christian Sejersen,
Joergen Larsen,
Luca Angeli,
Mikey Walti,
Nicholas Butowski,
Tom Barney.
These 9 players discussed what to name the new team. Arya wanted Spicey Chicken FC. Geoff wanted Exodus. Other names are too crude to be mentioned. As most of the management fell to Nicholas (aka Nic or Major Red Ass) he chose to name the football club after the land where his family hail from and where his passion for football began while watching Newcastle United. Tyneside.
TYNESIDE…what does it mean and what is the connection to NUFC?
Tyneside is that part of north eastern England, which is home to most of the metropolitan county of Tyne and Wear. It includes Newcastle upon Tyne and the Metropolitan Boroughs of Gateshead, Hebburn, Jarrow, North Shields, and South Shields — all settlements on the banks of the River Tyne. The only large settlement in Tyne and Wear that is not part Tyneside is Sunderland (the hated enemies of people from Newcastle), which is on Wearside. Renovation of the Quayside in Newcastle in the early 2000s has made Tyneside world renown for being a top party destination.
The people of the Tyneside area are called "Geordies". They do not regard this as a derogatory term, but rather express pride in being different from "southerners". Tynesiders may have been given this name, a local diminutive of the name "George", because their miners used George Stephenson's safety lamp (called a "Georgie lamp") to prevent firedamp explosions, rather than the Davy lamp used elsewhere. An alternative explanation is that during the Jacobite risings they declared their allegiance to the Hanoverian kings of Great Britain George I and George II; whereas the rest of the county of Northumberland, to the north, were loyal to James Francis Edward Stuart.
Newcastle United Football Club (NUFC also known as The Magpies) is an English football club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, who currently play in the Premier League. The club was founded in 1892 after the merger of two local clubs, Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End. Since their founding year, the club has played at their home ground of St. James' Park. The club's traditional kit colors are black and white striped shirts, with black shorts and socks. Supporters of Newcastle United refer to themselves as the Toon Army (St. James’ Park is in the middle of the old town of Newcastle. Geordies pronounce “town” as “toon.”)

RALLY CRY
“Nail Skulls!” Our Danish friend and former teammate, Joergen Larsen, gets credit for this team mantra. His command of English left something to be desired and in once trying to rally fellow Great Dane, Christian, during half time, he commanded Christian to “Nail their skulls and eat them too!”
COLORS
TFC chose to honor our heritage by wearing the colors of Newcastle United. Home colors are black and white striped shirts, with black shorts and black socks, though white socks are sometimes worn by those who consider them "lucky". NUFC’s change or away colors have traditionally involved light or royal blue and thus TFC wears royal blue away kits.
CREST
The first club badge which TFC wore on their shirts was created by Ben Sizemore, Geoff Espander, and Nicholas Butowski. The crest shows a shield with black and white stripes, a soccer ball, and a skull with nails in it. The crest also had a crown of thorns in recognition of the religious symbolism present in the first 2 seasons (long story).
From 2006 onwards, TFC with the assistance of Shahrad’s and Nicholas’ redesign, have used their present club crest; in some ways it was a revert to a more traditionalist design which has similarities to the old crest but is more refined. The crest design is more stripped down and is modified to apply to the club specifically, this includes the use of the club's black and white stripes on the shield, 3 stars to symbolize our championship in our third season, and a skull superimposed on a soccer ball.
